How It Works

TailgateJoe is a NY Jets game day fan club and tailgate party. It is NOT a commercial business or caterer. It was started and run by diehard Jets fan volunteers, mostly my family as slave labor (if you have been to any of my parties you have seen my mom filling the cannoli). The premise of the club is to bring the friendship and camaraderie of Jets fandom by throwing the biggest and best tailgate party possible for those who can’t or don’t want to do there own. We are at every home game, and quite a few away games as well. Generally we set up when the lot opens, 5 hours before kickoff. It is always free to join and hang with us and enjoy the TV system broadcasting other games as well as our music and entertainment. For those that want to partake in the all-you-can-eat-and-drink awesomeness, there is a donation to help defray the costs.

Known for great food, and plenty of it, the TGJ party has been mentioned in the book “100 Things Jets Fans Should Know & Do Before They Die”, on Food & Wine’s “Best Tailgating Cities” list, Featured and filmed live on Japan’s NHK Network morning show, Fitbie/MSN’s 11 Fat Bombs of Football Season, and Joe has appeared on 2 episodes of TLC’s hit show American Chopper including filming at a TGJ party.  Not a traditional caterer trapped in the constraints of running a business and looking at sticking to a profit margin, TGJ is a hobby and passion and is run as such, taking tailgating and summer grilled classics and kicking them up a few notches using the best ingredients to produce gourmet, delicious offerings. The TGJ crew has competed for the last 3 years in the Great Hot Dog Cook Off, winning 2nd place twice (we were robbed the 2nd year with some guy serving a lobster roll hot dog, c’mon now!!) and 1st this year, and are planning a full slate of competitive cooking and comp bbq events for the spring/summer of 2013. I have spent time studying at the house of world BBQ champion and judge on TV’s American Pitmasters Myron Mixon in the summer of 2012 to gain even more bbq knowledge and in preparation for taking TGJ to the next level. In addition to the TGJ parties, I occasionally does do some select private parties/events as his schedule permits.

Hey Joe! We’re in from Chicago for the game tomorrow & headed to the airport after the game. Any chance we can store a carry on bag in your truck until after the game?

Hi Joe.
We’re two guys traveling from Denmark, Europe to NYC for a weeks vacation. I’m a Texan fan and were going to the Texans@Jets game. We would like to try a tailgate party before the game and we are wondering if it would be OK to join your party?

Joe September 18, 2012 at 3:49 pm

Sure Thomas, you are definitely welcome to join us!

Cameron September 20, 2012 at 1:38 pm

Hi Joe;
We’re coming down for Thanksgiving; do you mind/welcome opposing team fans (ie: Patriots) coming down for the tailgate experience?

How do I purchase tickets for your tail gate party?

Cheers from Canada!

Brian October 21, 2012 at 10:14 pm

I am coming to my first nfl game and would like to get some tickets to your tailgate party. It’s for me and another person for the dolphins/jets game next weekend.
How do I get tickets? Thanks

Johnny November 8, 2012 at 11:54 am

My wife and I will be there for the Thanksgiving game. It will be our first NFL experience!! Can we be part of the Tailgate party?! Do we have to become members? Buy tickets? How does it work? Is it ok if my wife is a Pats fan?

James April 23, 2013 at 7:42 am

Hi , I am an NFL fan from the UK . I am on Honeymoon in NY for the Steelers game in October . Is anyone welcome to come down as looking for things to do before the game , to get a sample of traditional pre game things . Also can you recommend anything else to do pre game ?

Joe April 23, 2013 at 3:54 pm

Hey James. Of course you are welcome to join us. We will have more info for the specific games as we get closer to the season, but we will be at every home game as usual. You can find some chatter about us on the UK NFL fan message boards.

James April 23, 2013 at 5:29 pm

Excellent . it should be noted I am not a Jets fan but very excited to my first game in the states . How do I get tickets to your event ?
